We welcome the BFI’s recent initiative to lead a UK producer delegation to this year’s Hong Kong FILMART and are pleased to support this effort by offering complimentary briefing sessions to participating delegates.

Historically, Hong Kong FILMART has been widely recognised as a key international content and sales market. At the same time, it has long functioned as a major platform for production development, financing, and cross-border collaboration across Asia. To date, UK representation at FILMART has largely consisted of sales agents, with distributors, festival programmers, and producers typically attending in an individual capacity.

Having attended FILMART regularly since 2019, engaging across a broad range of industry activities, we are well placed to support this new initiative. In addition to attending the market again this year, we will offer free, tailored briefing sessions to delegates who are successfully selected to join the BFI-led group.

These sessions will share insights ((briefing of major players, box-office analysis, ideas mapping exercise) into the Hong Kong SAR market, with contextual understanding of mainland China where relevant.

As an example of our recent market engagement, we are currently involved in the development of a UK remake of a Hong Kong film—a project recently covered by Variety.

Delegates interested in booking a complimentary briefing session are invited to contact admin@ukchinafilm.com.

Group attendance at Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) 2026

The BFI is inviting applications from experienced UK producers with feature film projects (including animation projects) in active development to take part in a group attendance at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) between Monday 16 March 2026 and Saturday 21 March 2026 in person in Hong Kong (the Event).

The Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) is one of Asia’s leading content marketplaces, gathering more than 7,600 industry practitioners from more than 42 different countries and regions across East Asia and the globe. Alongside the established market, exhibition booths, and programme of industry talks and conferences, FILMART is also home to the newly established Producers Connect programme. Jointly organised by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CSTB), Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), Hong Kong Film Development Council (HKFDC), and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Producers Connect programme aims to develop a valuable global network in Asia that promotes connectivity, collaboration and cultural exchange among producers and other industry professionals. In its second year of activity, the 2026 edition of Producers Connect at FILMART will welcome a select group of approximately 70 experienced producers from Hong Kong and internationally to participate in a range of activities organised solely for their benefit.

For this group attendance, up to five experienced UK producers will be selected to attend and participate in the Producers Connect programme at FILMART, giving them access to:

tailored business matchmaking sessions
co-production conference panels and ‘fireside chats’
industry workshops
location scouting tour of Hong Kong
Selected producers will also have access to FILMART’s wider programme of events, exhibitors, and networking opportunities.

If you’re successful, the BFI will cover the cost of return economy travel from the UK to Hong Kong, in addition to five nights of hotel accommodation in Hong Kong.

The BFI will organise the majority of the group attendance on behalf of successful applicants but will ask individuals to make their own international travel arrangements. The BFI will expect to reimburse eligible international travel costs to successful applicants after the attendance has taken place. However, the BFI may approve an early reimbursement of eligible international travel costs (prior to the attendance) on a case-by-case basis.

For any questions about the group attendence or application, please contact international@bfi.org.uk.
