Bingjue Yan from the University of Warwick has been selected to join UK-China Film Collab as a member via the organisation’s Future Talent Programme 2022-2023.
Here is Bingjue’s introduction to her one-year project:
“Hello! I am Bingjue from the MA Film and Television Studies at the University of Warwick. As a student who studied journalism as an undergraduate, I follow social issues with a deep interest. After studying film as a postgraduate student, I became more concerned with the connections between film and society. I am interested in how films can be expressed and interpreted differently in different cultural and ideological contexts.
To join UK-China Film Collab’s Future Talent Programme this year, I plan to organise and participate in a series of film events, such as screenings, curated exhibitions, and film festivals to observe and understand how film is circulated as a culture in both countries. Through these events, I would like to promote communication in more ways than just the film text, such as panel discussions or designing brochures with more information so that the film can be seen and understood in a more comprehensible context.”
