Cara joined UCFC as a member via the Future Talent Programme 2020-2021, and she has been an active member since, alongside her career development.
Cara is a multilingual video producer and documentary researcher passionate about fostering cultural understanding between China and the UK through film and television. A graduate of St Anne’s College, Oxford, where she studied Chinese Studies with Subsidiary Japanese, Cara has built her career at the intersection of cross-cultural storytelling and documentary production. Most recently serving as a Video Producer at UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency, her experience spans the UN, the BBC, and independent production companies working on UK-China collaborative projects.
Proficient in Mandarin Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Cara has worked extensively in both the UK and China. Her China-focused projects include the 12-part documentary series “China’s World” where she served as Archive Producer and negotiated archive deals with CCTV, BBC4’s “Du Fu: China’s Greatest Poet,” and research work in Beijing that contributed to pitch decks for documentaries that won prizes at the Shanghai Film Festival 2019.
Her technical expertise includes Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony FX6 and A7S camera operation, and comprehensive archive management. She believes deeply in television and film’s power to bridge cultural divides and promote dialogue between diverse communities.
