Cicek Guler has been selected to join UCFC as a member via the support of Kickstart Scheme, as an Audience Engagement Officer.
The Kickstart Scheme was announced in July 2020 as part of the Chancellor’s Plan for Jobs. The scheme aims to create thousands of high-quality six-month work placements for young people aged 16 to 24.
UK-China Film Collab have been approved as an employer for the Kickstart Scheme. We are committed to providing an international experience to all future placement candidates. In addition, we will provide a tailored mentorship to support young graduates, so that they will be in a more ready position to launch a career after their work experience with us.
Here is Cicek’s own introduction to her expertise as well as her project at UCFC in the next six months:
“I am a recent history graduate and it was in university where I first stumbled upon my passion for film. As someone who began studying film at university level I immediately immersed myself in the subject and hope to pursue this passion into a career. My passion for film stems into various genres but I am extremely interested in how film and society intertwine with each other and what this means for us as an audience. I am currently working as an Audience Engagement Officer for UCFC and I am very excited to connect with peers and colleagues who also share the same passion as myself.
I have many ambitions I hope to achieve in my journey. I love to analyse film and connect it with our social ideologies and how our opinions in real life reflect on how we see individuals on screen. Not only this I aim to further myself within the film industry by raising awareness on Kurdish representation within the western film industry whether this be representation on-screen or off-screen. I believe working with the UCFC can equip me with the necessary skills as I can see first hand how the industry works. This experience will be invaluable in helping me launch my own career and further my passions as not only would I gain good quality experience but would also be able to connect and network with individuals who share the same values as I do.”
