Following successful discussions at the Marché du Film in Cannes last week, UK-China Film Collab is pleased to announce its partnership in supporting the UK and Ireland release of the highly anticipated Indian thriller Drishyam 3.
As one of India’s most successful and influential cinematic franchises, the Drishyam series has already established a strong connection with Chinese-speaking audiences through the blockbuster Chinese remakes Sheep Without a Shepherd (误杀) and Fireflies in the Sun (误杀2), grossing millions of box-office.
The franchise’s themes of family, morality, deception, and justice have resonated deeply across cultures, demonstrating the universal power of storytelling.
Through this partnership, we will support outreach and audience engagement initiatives aimed at connecting the original Indian phenomenon with Chinese audiences in the UK and beyond. The collaboration reflects a growing interest in cross-cultural cinema and the increasing dialogue between the Indian, Chinese, and the UK film industry.
Led by Bollywood superstar Mohanlal and the returning cast that helped turn Drishyam into a global box office success, Drishyam 3 is expected to be one of the most talked-about international releases among Asian audiences worldwide.
Drishyam 3 is set to be released in the UK and Ireland from 21 May with more than 270 sites in combined.
Hiu Man Chan, Founder of the UK-China Film Collab, commented:
“Cinema has the power to travel across languages and borders when stories touch something universal. What makes Drishyam particularly fascinating is that Chinese audiences already have an emotional connection with this story through the Chinese films. Supporting the UK release creates an opportunity not only to celebrate the original work, but also to continue building cultural dialogue between audiences across India, China, and the UK.”
Further announcements regarding screenings, partnerships, and audience engagement events will be revealed in the coming months.
Drishyam 3 is released in the UK by RFT Films.
