The Festival of German Cinema in China 2024 is presented by German Films and the Goethe-Institut China, supported by Broadway Cinemas.
The 2024 edition will tour 4 cities, starting from Beijing and will roll out to 3 more. Germany is the second most active European country to practice film diplomacy in China, supported by its own cultural and film institute.

According to German Films, the festival will screen 15 films, 12 of which are new films completed between 2023 and 2024, covering a variety of subjects, that have made a mark at different film festivals and have also done well at the German domestic box office. The festival opened with Empty Nets, which was selected for the competition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2023 and won the Special Jury Prize. Other film selections include German cinema classic Wings of Desire.

We managed to support 1 British Film Masters Retrospective this year in one city, Shanghai, without any funding or support from any UK relevant organisation. We wish our German friends a successful festival out there!
