The recipients of the inaugural Golden Panda Awards, which recognise outstanding global contributions in film, TV, documentaries and animation, were announced at a dazzling award Gala on Wednesday in Chengdu, Sichuan province, renowned as the home of the giant panda. Here are the winners.
Documentary Category
Matti Näränen and others won the first Golden Panda Awards for Best Editing in the Documentary Category for their documentary Kids Cup.
French cinematographers Samuel Toutain and Philippe Pothon won the first Golden Panda Awards for Best Cinematography in the Documentary Category for their documentary Frozen Kingdom of Snow Leopard.
Chinese director Sun Chao won the first Golden Panda Awards for Best Director in the Documentary Category for her documentary Little Giants.
The Miracle Panda, co-produced by the U.S. and China, won the first Golden Panda Awards for Best Documentary in the Documentary Category.
Animation Category
China’s Deep Sea was awarded the Best Visual Effects in the Animation Category.
Finland’s Moominvalley Season 3 was awarded the Best Animated Image in the Animation Category.
China’s Yao-Chinese Folktales was awarded the Best Animation in the Animation Category.
TV Drama Category
American TV drama 1923 Season 1 was awarded the Best TV Drama in the TV Drama Category.
Alexandra Harwood, music producer of the British TV drama All Creatures Great and Small, was awarded the Best Original Score in the TV Drama Category.
Seyed Morteza Najafi, cinematographer of the Iranian TV drama Yadoo, was awarded the Best Cinematography in the TV Drama Category.
Australian actress Sarah Snook was awarded the Best Actress in a Supporting Role in the TV Drama Category for her role as Shiv Roy in the TV drama Succession Season 3.
Chinese actor Wang Jingchun was awarded the Best Actor in a Supporting Role in the TV Drama Category for his role as Wang Shouyi in the TV drama Ordinary Greatness.
