Ketong Ou from King’s College has been selected to join UK-China Film Collab as a member via the Future Talent Programme 2023-2024.

Ketong Ou, a dedicated Sociology student at King’s College London, holds a profound passion for the film industry and its potentials in cross-cultural communication. She believes that films not only have the power to expand horizons but also to foster global understanding and collaboration.

As part of the Future Talent Programme 2023-2024, Ketong’s proposed project specifically focuses on harnessing film festivals to bolster the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which she was inspired by volunteering for our annual film festival Odyssey 2023 . Her mission merges the charm of cinematic storytelling with global sustainable objectives, highlighting the symbiosis between film artistry and global developmental aspirations.

She will spend a year to understand the complex structure of the United Nations, as well as to identify collaborations points between UK-China Film Collab and specialied UN programmes.

During the summer, Ketong has contributed a great deal to the organisation, including attending the Pingyao International Film Festival as an audience Juror, visiting our industry partner Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Association as well as interviewing Arthur Jones, a British director based in Shanghai. She wrote in-depth reports in Chinese on each of her engagement and they are available via our official WeChat channel (id: ukchinafilm).

Ketong is currently in her gap year from King’s College and working at Beijing Cheering Times Culture & Entertainment Ltd. in Beijing, China.
