UK-China Film Collab have recently been approved as an employer for the Kickstart Scheme. We are committed to providing an international experience to all future placement candidates. In addition, we will provide a tailored mentorship to support young graduates, so that they will be in a more ready position to launch a career after their work experience with us.

“What I want to do, is not only to provide a diverse work experience to all kickstarters who would like to join us. I also want to support each individual to get closer to their aspiration via this opportunity, to help them to launch something that they can own and take away with after this programme”. Says Dr Hiu Man Chan, Founder & Director of UK-China Film Collab.

Here is the official description of the Kickstart Scheme:

“The Kickstart Scheme was announced in July 2020 as part of the Chancellor’s Plan for Jobs. The scheme aims to create thousands of high-quality six-month work placements for young people aged 16 to 24 who are claiming Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.

Under the scheme, the Government will cover 100 per cent of employment costs for 25 hours a week. This includes the employee’s salary at the appropriate minimum wage for their age, as well as National Insurance and pension contributions.

The Department for Work and Pensions have recently removed the 30-placement limit on direct applications, which FSB welcomes as it creates more choice for small employers looking to get involved.

We recommend all companies in the film sector (profit and non-profit) to consider this brilliant scheme and to support more young graduates who are passionate about the art, culture and business of film.”
