A new feature documentary is on the way, after his 8-year project The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru. Fang Li reveals new project about MH370 and is determined to find its black box.

During his trip to London for the UK Premiere of The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru, Fang Li reveals his new project to us, a feature documentary about the Malaysian Airline plan MH37 that went missing just over 10 years ago. One of the main outcomes of the documentary The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru was to locate the wreck of the ship in East China sea by using sonar detection. The same method will be used to find MH370’s black box, explained the director.

According to Fang Li, many companies and individuals are interested in backing this important project. He has been talking to stakeholders in Malaysia already to get official supports. Most people from Malaysia he met welcomed the project, he claims.

The film will be produced by Laurel Films. Laurel Films is an independent production company, operated by producer and screenwriter Fang Li. The company has produced several independent films from directors such Wang Chao, Li Yu and Lou Ye.

We look forward to bringing you more updates about this project.
