How much more can we capture the fascinating unknown of short films?
Since the launch of #NOWNESS Short Film Awards#, more than 2,000 insightful young filmmakers have connected to create vibrant short films with their own styles.
This year, CHINA WAVE will be held from 1st November to 3rd November in Shenzhen. With special support from CHANEL, NOWNESS is committed to review the past editions to further explore the possibilities of short film culture. During the three-day screening and panel, we will get a glimpse of NOWNESS Short Film Awards from the previous editions and have a dialogue with filmmakers, drawing inspiration and strength from the changes of light and shadow.
CHINA WAVE consists of two main sections – NOWNESS Short Film Awards Selection and FIRST FRAME SPECIAL SCREENING. NOWNESS Short Film Awards Selection is divided into five programs of short films from the previous editions; FIRST FRAME was jointly launched by FIRST International Film Festival and CHANEL in 2021 to support diverse depictions of women in contemporary film to accompany the next generation of filmmakers in composing a more vibrant and diverse female narrative. FIRST FRAME SPECIAL SCREENING is a selected edition of short films from the past three years of FIRST FRAME.
