UK based film festival Odyssey 2024 to bring Ang Lee’s classic Chinese film Lust, Caution back to UK cinemas, as part of its pre-festival programme.

Starring Tang Wei and Tony Leung, Lust, Caution (2007) is an award-winning feature film directed by Ang Lee, adapted from a novel by Eileen Chang under the same title.

 

During the World War II era, a young woman, Wang Jiazhi, gets swept up in a dangerous game of emotional intrigue with a powerful political figure, Mr. Yee.

The story is set in Hong Kong in 1938 and in Shanghai in 1942, when the city was occupied by the Imperial Japanese Army and ruled by the puppet government. A group of students from The University of Hong Kong plot to assassinate Mr. Yee, a high-ranking special agent and recruiter working for the puppet government, by luring him into the abyss of passion.

In partnership with Park Circus, Odyssey 2024 brings back this classic to cinemas across the UK between February and March, some screenings have been sold out within 24 hours since its booking announcement.

Odyssey is the biggest film festival in the UK in conversation with Chinese communities around the world, Greater China and beyond. The theme for 2024 is “food and travel” and the festival will take place between September 9-29, in cinemas across the UK and online.
