Odyssey Film Festival returns for its annual celebration of cinema and imagination, between the East and West. Each year our festival explores a new theme through film, and in 2026 we invite filmmakers to engage with “Fashion”.

“Fashion” is more than clothing. It is identity, movement, rebellion, culture, time, and transformation. It can reflect who we are, who we wish to become, or the worlds we imagine.

For this year’s edition, Odyssey welcomes films that capture fashion, question fashion, or invent fashion. We are interested in works that explore style, aesthetics, bodies, materials, subcultures, rituals of dress, or the act of self-creation through visual expression.

Your film might explore the fashion industry, personal style, historical costume, cultural identity, experimental design, or entirely new visions of what fashion could be. Whether intimate or spectacular, documentary or fiction, poetic or provocative — we invite filmmakers to interpret the theme freely.

Comeptition: Shorts

Short films are eligible for the festival’s competition categories. We welcome submissions across all genres, including:

Narrative
Documentary
Experimental
Animation
Hybrid forms

Official Screening Programme: Features

Feature-length films are eligible for selection in the festival’s Official Screening Programme.

We are particularly interested in films that:

Engage with fashion as a visual language or cultural expression
Explore identity, transformation, or performance through clothing and style
Experiment with design, image, movement, and aesthetics
Reimagine or invent new forms of fashion and self-presentation
Interpretation of the theme is intentionally open. We encourage bold, original, and imaginative approaches.

About Odyssey

Accredited by the British Council, Odyssey is our annual film festival in the UK curated around a single theme each year, inviting filmmakers and audiences to explore cinema as a space for ideas, aesthetics, and cultural dialogue. Particularly, it aims to create a platform for artistic and industry exchange between the UK, Greater China and beyond.

Previous editions of the festival have brought together filmmakers from around the world, presenting diverse works that challenge, inspire, and expand the language of film.

Filmmakers from all backgrounds and countries are invited to submit their work.
Join us on this year’s Odyssey and share your vision of Fashion.
