Odyssey – a Chinese Cinema Season is a new hybrid annual film festival dedicated to promoting Chinese-language films in the UK, presented by the UK-China Film Collab. Its mission is to celebrate a shared appreciation of film, an inclusive experience and to inspire cross-cultural understanding. The festival aims to introduce young Chinese film talents to the UK audience each year and provides a shared space for professionals to exchange new ideas.
A month-long Odyssey Film Festival in 2022 finally came to an end this week. Over the past 6 months, with the concerted efforts of the organising committee members and many volunteers, this year’s Odyssey has brought new Chinese films to the UK audience on a wide range of subjects, through 60+ films in 8 curated sections, 10 discussion panels, exclusive Q&As and 4 awards. By bringing a series of curated Chinese-language films to the UK, helping them to reach the wider audience and using them to inspire new discussions between the two countries, we believe this has truly been a journey to the West.
This year, we have received volunteer applications from more than 30 universities around the world. After a series of intensive selection and interviews, a total of 37 outstanding volunteers have been selected to join the Odyssey. They are all passionate about Chinese films and cross-cultural communication and are willing to contribute to the promotion of Chinese films in the UK. Thanks to the participation and dedication of every volunteer in the past 6 months, and hope to see you next year!

From 10th May to 10th June 2022, with more than 60 films in 8 curated sections, 10 panel discussions and many inspiring Q&A sessions, we aim to bring you a whole month of outstanding and innovative Chinese cinema that promises to illuminate your mind. The festival not only introduces the latest young Chinese film talents to the UK audience, but also provide forums for professionals to exchange creativity and business ideas.
