Riley Wong joined UK-China Film Collab as a Specialised Programme Curator via a credited placement module in partnership with Birkbeck, University of London in July 2022.

Here is Riley’s introduction to herself:

“I am currently studying MA in Film and Screen Media (with the pathway to Film Programming and Curating) at the Birkbeck, University of London.

I was born and raised in Hong Kong. I graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Sociology and Criminology. Watching films is always my biggest interest and I have always wanted to work in this industry. Therefore, I have started this MA degree and I wish to explore more about film history and gain more related experiences and connections. So far, I have gotten many opportunities from my course, including student accreditation at Berlinale Film Festival, programme viewers at Raindance Film Festival, and now an internship at UCFC.

I wish to bring more multiple Hong Kong cinemas to the UK audience via this internship. I am currently developing a project at UCFC which focuses on various Hong Kong film directors, giving a better understanding and conversation of Hong Kong cinema in the UK.”

After finishing her credited placement module, Riley continued to contribute and lead various projects at UCFC.
