Hugoest becomes the biggest single representative for international films at this year’s Shanghai International Film Festival.
Founded in 2016, Hugoeast is a Beijing-based company that has distributed more than 200 international arthouse films in China selected from prestigious film festivals. Supporting women-driven stories and female directors, Hugoeast now has the new arm in international sales, representing arthouse films and documentaries by talented Chinese directors. Hugoeast acquires classic films, discover new gems, focus on women’s perspective, and strive for a more diversified culture.
The 25th Shanghai International Film Festival, June 9 to 18, has unveiled its full programme, both in competition and festival. Hugoest takes 16 international films to China’s top cinephile event.
