Shanghai International Film Festival announced British director Mike Leigh as the first master in this year’s “Tribute To Masters” unit. The SIFF will show his 8 classic works including “Secrets & Lies”, “Vera Drake” and “Mr. Turner”.
“Like Fellini’s Rome or Ozu Yasujiro’s Tokyo, Mike Leigh’s London is truly distinguished.” The 80-year-old master used to carry a camera and record the changes in the streets and alleys of London over the past half a century. He won the Palme d’Or, Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival, and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Academy of Film Awards.
